OUR BUILDING: A COMMUNITY SERVICE

Our congregation is pleased to be able to assist and enrich the wider community by making space available for individuals and groups who need it. We have many expenses related to sustaining our building, so for most of the groups who call our building "home" we must charge something to help defray those costs. However, we are really about helping to make good things possible, so we do what we can to help out other charities and non-profits. Our rentals must also be consistent with the spirit and policies of The United Church of Canada.

There are three factors that guide our decisions regarding who may use our building:

  1. Stewardship. We are responsible to ensure that the church building and facilities are used as fully as possible, without jeopardizing normal church functions.
  2. Outreach. We are responsible to ensure that the church building and facilities are used to benefit worthy causes in the community, including those that cannot afford to pay.
  3. Sustainability. We may, from time to time, use the church building and facilities to generate revenue for the benefit of GPUC and the wider church, which in turn enables us to continue to be of service to the community.

This Room Booking Calendar shows you when our building is currently being used. It's not our events calendar (which can be found in the menu above) -- it's strictly how we keep track of who is using which room when.

MAIN FLOOR

 
 

SANCTUARY

Our Sanctuary is available for concerts, conference gatherings, and rehearsals, as well as the usual weddings and funerals. 

The fee includes the use of washrooms, entrances and the upstairs cloakroom as well as use of the piano, organ and the sound system. It does not include fees for the services of the Minister, Music Director, Sound Tech or Custodian.  Any use of the GPUC sanctuary sound system requires a GPUC trained and approved individual to operate the system. For all the details regarding rental of the Sanctuary, please read the policy and contract document carefully.

FEE:  $50/hr for regularly scheduled use; $63/hr for one-time use, plus $10 admin. fee; 4 hr minimum for weddings and funerals

 
 
 

McFAULL LOUNGE

 

Our cosy lounge is perfect for small meetings. A DVD player and monitor are available, as well as a whiteboard.

FEE:  $10 first hour, $6 for each additional hour for one-time renters, $5 each additional hour for regular renters


LOWER LEVEL

 
 

SCHNELL HALL

Schnell Hall is our large basement space. It's equipped with tables and chairs, as well as a sound system (upon request) and a large presentation screen. Bathrooms, including an accessible one, are on the same floor. A small side kitchen is included or our large kitchen is available for an additional fee.

FEE:  $40/hr for regularly scheduled use; $50/hr for one-time use, plus 10 admin. fee; $400 maximum daily rate

 

KITCHEN  (SCHNELL HALL)

Our kitchen is available at an additional fee when you rent Schnell Hall. 

Rental includes all equipment and facilities found in the kitchen, except for common consumables such as coffee, tea, cream, sugar, and napkins. These items must be supplied by the renter. The dishwasher is available for use, and must be used on any GPUC dishes, but GPUC personnel will be assigned at no additional charge to assist with its operation.

FEE:  $10 per hour for one-time renters, $8 for regular renters

 

NURSERY

Sometimes we make our colourful Nursery available to those renting Schnell Hall, however we have strict policies regarding footwear, food and cleaning up after an event. These are posted on the bulletin board.

COMMON room

 

This is a group of rooms we call Grace Land (otherwise known as Sunday School). Chairs and tables are available, as well as a piano. Five smaller adjoining rooms may be used for break-out sessions, or can be rented individually for small meetings, depending on their current use by church programs.
